The Ring magazine reached out to me specifically to explore how AI technology could be thoughtfully integrated into their publication. With a legacy dating back over a century, The Ring is one of the most respected voices in boxing journalism, known for its iconic covers and deep connection to the sport’s history. The objective was to introduce new tools without compromising the authority, authenticity, and tradition that define the magazine.
I created the publication’s first-ever AI-assisted cover for the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury matchup, using a fusion of traditional editorial design, image comping, photo manipulation, and AI-generated core assets. The visual direction was inspired by the old world of boxing, referencing early The Ring covers and the theatrical drama of classic prizefighting. The final result bridges past and present, honoring the magazine’s heritage while signaling a forward-looking approach to visual storytelling and production.
